Good to know
Do I need a U.S. address or SSN?
No. We provide a Registered Agent and can assist with a business address, and your EIN is obtained without an SSN using the correct IRS process.
Which state should I choose?
It depends on your business. Wyoming and New Mexico are popular for low cost and privacy; Delaware suits companies raising investment. We help you decide.
How long does it take?
Filing is often completed within a few business days, though exact timelines are set by the state and the IRS for your EIN.
Which state should I form my LLC in?
If your business is physically somewhere, form there — anything else means registering twice and paying twice. If it is purely online and run from abroad, Wyoming and New Mexico are the usual answers on cost and privacy. Our state guides compare fifteen of them in detail.
Can two or more people own the LLC together?
Yes. A multi-member LLC works exactly the same way, and the Operating Agreement is where you set out who owns what, who decides what, and what happens if someone wants out. That document matters far more in a multi-member company than a single-member one.
Do I need a U.S. address or phone number?
Not your own. Your registered agent provides the required in-state address, and we can add a U.S. mailing address and business phone number if you want a commercial presence. You never need to rent anything yourself.
How is a foreign-owned LLC taxed?
A single-member LLC is a pass-through by default, so profit is taxed to the owner rather than the company. Whether a non-resident owner owes U.S. tax depends on whether the income is effectively connected to a U.S. trade or business — a genuine question for a CPA. Note that foreign-owned single-member LLCs must file Form 5472 annually regardless of profit.
Can I change the company name later?
Yes, by filing an amendment with the state. It is straightforward but not free, and it means updating your EIN record, bank and payment providers. Worth getting right the first time, which is why name searches are unlimited.
